About the Author
Dan Gable has been named to several Halls of Fame including the USA Wrestling Hall of Fame, the US Olympic Hall of Fame, the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, and is the namesake of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa. In 2002, he was appointed to the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. He has been named the top wrestler of the 20th Century by Gannett News Services, is listed as one of the top coaches of the 20th Century by ESPN, and is named Iowa’s top sports figure in the past 100 years. In 1996, Gable was named one of the “100 Golden Olympians,†an honor bestowed to the top 100 U.S. Olympians of all time. During the 2012 Olympics, he was inducted into the FILA Hall of Fame Legends of the Sport category, becoming one of three people in the world to receive this honor. He resides in Iowa City, Iowa, with his wife Kathy.  Born and raised in Connecticut, Scott Schulte has been a fan of Dan Gable his entire life. He enjoyed success as a high school wrestler and runner and as a high school wrestling and track coach for many years. The father of two sons and two grandchildren, he is a professional writer. He lives in Milford, Connecticut.

I was fortunate to be at IOWA when he was coaching. I met him a few years ago at a speaking engagement and the intensity of this man has not diminished. The book is great for fans, coaches and athletes. How to motivate, train and prepare for competition. I wish he was still coaching at IOWA!
As a resident of Waterloo, I think of Dan Gable as an example of the first John Deere tractor. Just like it he showed the way to be a winner. His stories are full of what made him a winner and if we applied his examples we can also win in our lives. A great read for those who need to know that success comes from hard work. There is no easy road to being happy and a winner. We all lose some of the time, we just need to keep trying.
Dan Gable is a hero of mine in that he inspired me to work hard and smart to be the best in whatever moves you. It motivates me as a teenager and even now in my work life as an adult. Great stories and nice insights, not a whole lot of in depth things on Gable in a book form so glad to see this. My oldest boy really likes it too
I read most of this book after doing my morning workouts and it made me want to go back and do another round. Dan Gable's achievements is nothing less than legendary in the sport of wrestling. I even knew about him back when I first started wrestling and now that I read this book I got to learn more of what made Dan the man in Wrestling
Wonderful, inspiring book! I am glad I bought it for my High School wrestler to read because I really enjoyed reading it! Even if you don't like wrestling this book has a lot of good inspiration for living life and having a competitive drive. I've recommended it many people!
I really enjoyed the book and my only complaint is that it wasn't longer. It was great to read the stories about Dan Gable's life and the wrestlers who have had an impact on him and his career.
I bought this book for my nephew who was struggling with his identity in Christ. This book was an inspiration to him and has causedhim to find a peace he did not previously had. He "gave up his anger". I contribute it to the testimony of Mr. Michaels. Excellent!
Wonderful book, very good supplements to all the Dan Gable stories in his legend. In this book, much to my surprise, Gable's wisdom extends far beyond the sport of wrestling. A very good reading.
