About the Author
Angie Smith is the wife of Todd Smith (lead singer of Dove Award-winning group Selah), author of I Will Carry You, What Women Fear, Mended, and most recently Chasing God. She is one of the most popular speakers and blog writers in the country. She holds a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from Vanderbilt University and lives with her husband and daughters in Nashville, TN. Her first children’s book, Audrey Bunny, was published in October 2013 and quickly hit no. 1 on Amazon’s Christian Children’s Book list. Breezy Brookshire grew up in Indiana. Her skills as a young artist are mostly self-taught, drawing characters from her imagination as a young child. At the age of seventeen, Breezy opened an Etsy shop called The Breezy Tulip Studio where her artwork is sold and was first recognized by author Angie Smith. Breezy resides in Indiana to this day, sharing a home studio with her sister Emily Rose. I bought this devotional for my daughter who is five and I read from it to her every night before bed. We are now on our second time through it and we both enjoy it so much! Some of the content is over her head yet, but she always asks questions and it's opened the door for us to talk about the character of God and how much He loves us and wants to be a part of our life. It's amazing how each story pertains to something I went through and needed to hear that day, as well! God is so good and gracious. I'm recommending this book to all the moms and grandmothers I know with daughters!!
This book is wonderfully written and has beautifully drawn pictures. We read a story a night and it was engaging and lovely. I have 3 kids 2 boys(ages 3,5)and 1 girl(7) and they all would ask me if it was time to read "the women of the bible yet" during the day. Angie has a gift for writing and the prayers at the end of each story were awesome!
This book is beautiful, in both illustrations and writing. Solid Biblical understanding written so appropriately for girls of all ages. My 15 year old daughter loves this book and has asked for it as a gift when she has children. Angie Smith really brings out the beauty of the stories of the women of the Bible, and Breezy Brookshire's illustrations are lovely. Highly recommend.
Great for children and adults! My daughter received this as a gift and I have gotten as much out of it as she has. I am using as a devotional now. All of the bad reviews make me sad because this is such a great book that I am giving it as gifts.
I have read a bible story to my kids most nights for the past 11 years. This one, though. It was different than any I've read before. I learned new truth from it's pages. It does an amazing job of teaching on a kid/pre-teen level, but challenging them to look for the connections in scripture. I have given it as gifts. I seriously cannont recommend this enough
I pre-ordered this with the intention of giving it as a gift based on Angie's previous children's book, Audrey Bunny. But, when it arrived I was compelled to open it and drink deeply! The stories and the illustrations combined are such a delightful experience. I couldn't put it down. Needless to say, I will be ordering more copies to gift in the future but this copy is just for me! It is bound to become a cherished classic to be read and loved and passed down!
I read before I read to my granddaughters. (5,7, and 10) That way I knew which stories related to each other, even if they were generations later. My girls love the book.
We haven't finished reading this book yet, but so far I love it! The familiar stories have been told from a slightly different perspective than usual, but they present important truths in a fresh way. Love the little devotional at the end of each story which delves deeper into the character of God and application for my daughters. We have enjoyed going through this together. Appropriate for my elementary-aged daughter, though I can see us successfully repeating this over the years. My preschooler doesn't always seem interested, but she sits quietly and cooperates. :)
