Good book but not the narrative I sought. This book provides more of an observation of the direction that NCLB has taken education rather than providing guidance on how to implement data-driven decision making into educational practice. Nonethess, the notion that we are in the midst of a paradigm shift or new culture of data use is one that warrants attention. This is not a new notion however.

This book is not for the faint of heart. Technical, informative yet human with many real life vinettes interwoven to form a comprensive guide to education. If you like outliers you will like this book.

I am not in education and when I saw this book recently it looked pretty interesting given that I have kids in school now. What I liked about it is that it explained a lot of what is going on in education today and helps me see some of the pressures my son's teachers are under now and some ways to think about how the schools can use technology to make things more individual for each student. I would probably read the next one.
