I purchased the first book in the series for my nephew. He enjoyed it so much that I started reading it to see what it was all about. A classic good vs. evil with empathetic characters. It might be more suited for a younger audience but what can I say.... I'm hooked! Just started the second book in the series and it just gets better. In my opinion, it's a great story to be enjoyed by all ages.
I was discouraged when I received the book. I was aware that it was 1-3 books, but I didn't expect them all to be in one book. "Great. He (my 9 y.o.) is never going to read it.", I thought.My 9 y.o. son does not like to read. He does not have the attention span for sitting around and read a book. The only time he would read is if the book has pictures (it doesn't have to be a graphic novel, but some sort of pictures to go with the story). So, when I received the Epic Zero 1-3 book, I was discouraged.However, I sat down and read the first chapter with him before bedtime to get a feel of the book and to see his reaction. To my surprise, he ENJOYED IT VERY VERY VERY MUCH. He went on and finished the book within 3 days and asked for volume 4 after that! I have since purchased the 4th book as well as downloaded the "extra" in PDF format and my son, of course, has read all of them.Epic Zero was his first book without any illustration. Thank you, R.L. Ullman for writing the whole series! You showed my son that it was possible to fall in love with a book without pictures. Please continue writing the series!!
Both my 7 year old son and I really enjoyed the Epic Zero series. Fun, fast read. Very entertaining with lots of humor. My son couldn’t put it down, and I really enjoyed the adventure too. Highly recommend!
My son and I had been reading the Harry Potter book series for the past two years, and after finishing, we’re looking for our next adventure. I came across Epic Zero, and ordered the box set. My son and I are through the first two books already, eagerly anticipating the third and last book. Elliott Harkness is a great character, along with all the friends, heroes, and villains he meets along the way. I highly recommend this box set to all!
Any time my kids beg me to keep reading, I know it's a good book. I have read aloud to them for many years and I'll continue until they ask me to stop. My kids are 11, 13, and 15 (boy, girl, boy) and they loved this set. We read all three books and my kids would have read a 4th if there had been one. My daughter was a little lost, but it's mainly because she doesn't always pay attention (she plays on her phone) so she missed key pieces of information. My boys hung on every word though and at times they were more aware of what was happening and what they thought was going to happen than I was. Kids want to be super heroes! They imagine themselves being able to fly and defeat villains. These books tell about a boy who thinks he can do nothing, but then realizes he has powers. It was funny, entertaining, and had good lessons. The bad guys lost; the good guys won. It ended well, and there wasn't any bad language (I think they said "sucks" once, but I substituted if for "stinks." Overall, we all liked it a lot!
Epic Zero is awesome! Enough said but I will elaborate. My 7 year old son is in amour with this series, we red through the entire 3 books in two weeks he couldn't get enough. He would beg not to go to bed and keep reading..."Just a little more mommy please!" I found it this enjoyable to read with my child, I love super hero myself and together we were both excited to keep reading the story. The only issue I face now is a sad child that has no more books in the series, I hope there will be more to come! This is the first book that my son has said he is going to read this entire book again. He absolutely can't get enough of Epic Zero...Please write more!
I enjoy reading this book, I had so much fun. My son loved it. This is the kind of book that keep you reading and reading to the end.I have to said that the book is really interesting, Would recommend to any one, any age.. This was a very fun book, as I could understand how frustrating it would be to not have super powers. I found it interesting how the main character still managed to work things out, even without super powers.
